Summary Of What’s In This Weekly Wrap-Up
We’re excited to announce our next Skull Session Event! This Monday 2PM Eastern Time, we’ll be hosting a Fireside Chat with the new CTO of Qualstar Corp. (OOTC:QBAK). I am extremely excited about this one. The company is sitting in the center of a growth trend that we haven’t covered in the data center and AI world yet: off cloud storage solutions.
| Before I go deeper into a summary of last week’s coverage at Geoinvesting, there’s two really important things I need to update you on. First of all, my team made some significant enhancements to the press release research platform that I’ve been talking to you for the last two years.
Secondly, you should check out InfoArb Tearsheets, a new platform I’m part of that highlights information arbitrage by analyzing earnings press releases and earnings calls. I’ll be sending you an example tomorrow morning of a tearsheet that identified a company exploring how it can adapt its service offering to data centers. I wouldn’t bring this to your attention if I didn’t think they would immensely help your research process. As a 30+ year full-time investor, you just need to trust me on this and visit those assets once in a while. A lot more is coming down the pike on these pet projects that’s probably going to blow your mind. At least on paper it’s blowing mine.🤯 |
Speaking of events, last week, we hosted a Skull Session with Adrian Courtenay (@ACourtenEye, LinkedIn) of GA-Courtenay Special Situations Fund, who shared his framework for identifying special situations and catalyst-driven opportunities, especially when it comes to merger arbitrage. By the way, Adrian has just published a book titled “The Super Organisation Secret: A Blueprint for Compounding Equity Returns reimagines how investors and business leaders should perceive and evaluate corporations.” You can check out the book here.
You know that we are big on information arbitrage, so this chat really resonated with me. I came across Adrian while perusing interviews at Sunday’s Idea Brunch Substack.
During our conversation, Adrian highlighted mostly large-cap names like Liberty Media Corporation – Series C (NASDAQ:FWONK), Liberty Media Corporation – Series A (NASDAQ:FWONA), Ge Aerospace (NYSE:GE), and Safran SA (EPA:SAF), along with smaller-cap Fevertree Drinks PLC (AIM:FEVR).
Last week, our research updates included a potential data center use case at Mueller (paul) Co. (OOTC:MUEL), and an update on Phonex Holdings, Inc. (OOTC:PXHI) on the clarification of the timing of its upcoming $1.15 special dividend. Tx Rail Products, Inc. (OOTC:TXRP) surprised with a 50% revenue growth forecast and announced plans to uplist. A new stock (sign in or join now to reveal) was added to the Focus Model Portfolio following record backlog growth and reaffirmation of its strategic review.
Although we didn’t talk about it during the week, we are intrigued to see if Tor Minerals International, Inc (OOTC:TORM), a past Geoinvesting model portfolio winner in 2011, is ready to bounce back from years of lousy operating performance.
Another update we didn’t talk about during the week was that Namesilo Technologies Corp. (OOTC:URLOF) (CSE:URL) expanded beyond domain registration with the acquisition of CommerceHQ, a drag-and-drop ecommerce website builder now integrated into NameSilo.com.
